Frequently Asked Questions

We have just taken on a refurbished DSC535 with unknown toner levels. Is a full four-color set the right first supply order?

It is usually the smartest one. With a secondhand machine you cannot trust the remaining levels the panel reports, and a full set resets all four cartridges to known, full starting points in a single order. From there, your replacement rhythm becomes predictable, because every cartridge's age and history is known to you.

What does each cartridge inside this set effectively cost?

The set is $187.20 for four cartridges — an average of $46.80 each. Bought individually, the black is $55.13 and each color is $62.51, a total of $242.66, so the set saves $55.46 against the single-cartridge prices. It is the lowest per-cartridge entry point for stocking this platform.

The black is rated at 23,000 pages and the colors at 17,000. What does that gap mean over a year of use?

It means the set will not be consumed evenly. The color cartridges will reach empty first — sooner in color-heavy offices — while the black keeps going. After this first full set, most offices settle into topping up individual colors as needed and only occasionally replacing the black, rather than buying complete sets every time.

The set is titled for the Gestetner DSC535. Does it serve the other machines in this family too?

Yes — the four cartridges in the box are the standard cartridges for the entire Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform, and the listing is simply titled under one of its badges: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. A machine anywhere in that family can take this set, whatever name appears on its front panel.

If one cartridge in the set is faulty, do we have to send the whole set back?

No. Each cartridge in the set is covered individually by the same one-year warranty, so a faulty unit is replaced or refunded on its own while the other three stay in your machine. There is no requirement to return working cartridges or to re-buy the set to make a claim.

How do the free returns work if we ordered the wrong set by mistake?

Returns are free for a full year after purchase, and the step-by-step process is set out on our shipping and returns page. If you are unsure which set your machine needs before ordering, our support team can confirm it Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — a two-minute check is easier than any return.
