Frequently Asked Questions

When does it actually make sense to replace all four cartridges at once?

When the status screen shows most of the set running low together, or when you are setting up a machine and want a known starting point for color. Swapping all four in one session also restarts the whole set on equal footing, which makes future reordering simpler to predict. If only one color is low and the rest are healthy, a single cartridge is the smarter buy — the set is for the full refresh, not a forced bundle.

What does this set save versus buying the four cartridges one by one?

The four singles total $242.66 on their own; the set is $187.20, so you save $55.46 in one order. Black, cyan, magenta, and yellow are all in the box — one of each — so the saving comes with no compromises about what is included.

The title names the DSC545 — will this set fit the other machines in the same family?

Yes. To state it plainly, these cartridges are made for the entire Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform, and the DSC545 is the Gestetner-branded member of that family that this listing is titled for. The machines covered are Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. If your copier is on that list, all four cartridges in this set are the correct ones for it.

The black yield is 23,000 pages but the colors are 17,000 — will the new set run out together?

No, and it is worth expecting that from the start. The black cartridge is rated higher and, on most machines, also works on a slower calendar pace relative to its rating because so much output is plain text. Plan on the colors asking for attention first and the black following later; the set synchronizes your starting point, not the finish line.

Only our yellow is empty today — is buying the whole set wasteful?

It depends on the state of the other three. If black, cyan, and magenta still show healthy levels, buy the yellow single and save the set for later. If the panel shows the others close behind, the set stops being a splurge and becomes the cheaper path, since the remaining singles would cost more bought separately anyway.

How does the warranty work across four cartridges bought as one set?

Each cartridge in the set is covered individually by the one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year, cartridge by cartridge. If one of the four ever misbehaves, start at our shipping and returns page or call support Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — you will not be asked to send the whole set back over a single cartridge.
