Frequently Asked Questions

Yellow is almost impossible to judge by eye — how do we know when this cartridge is genuinely low?

Trust the machine's numbers, not the page. A nearly empty yellow still prints a plausible-looking document because the other colors carry the image, so check the supply status screen, which reports the remaining level for each cartridge directly. Prints that have quietly gone cold and blue, with weak greens, are the subtle clue that yellow has already faded.

We almost never print anything yellow — why would this cartridge drain at all?

Because yellow hides inside colors you would never guess. Every green is cyan plus yellow, warm paper tones and highlights lean on it, and skin tones use a good deal of it too. A machine that prints charts, photos, and highlighted documents can empty its yellow while the staff swears nothing yellow ever came out of it.

Is this yellow cartridge made only for the DSC545 in the title?

No — and we would rather say so plainly. The cartridge fits the full Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform; the DSC545 is the Gestetner name for one branch of that family, which is why the listing is titled that way. The platform machines are Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. Any copier on that list uses this same yellow cartridge.

What happens to our prints if we keep running after yellow is empty?

Color work loses its warmth: greens slide toward blue, yellows and oranges disappear, and photos look chilly and flat. Many offices notice the machine itself refusing color jobs once a cartridge reads empty, so the practical outcome is the same either way — color output stops being usable until the yellow is replaced.

Since yellow is the sneaky one, when should we reorder it?

Make the panel your trigger: when the status screen shows yellow down to roughly a fifth remaining, order the replacement. That leaves plenty of working room for delivery to arrive, and because a sealed spare stores well, there is no downside to having it waiting in the cabinet.

What coverage comes with this cartridge if something goes wrong?

You are covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free throughout that first year — no restocking games. The full policy sits on our shipping and returns page, and our team can walk you through it Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
