Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a low yellow cartridge so hard to spot on the printed page?

Yellow is the palest of the four toners, so its absence shows up indirectly. Prints lose their warmth, greens turn dull and bluish because green is cyan plus yellow, and highlighted sections and pale backgrounds quietly disappear. People often sense that a page "looks off" several jobs before anyone suspects the yellow supply.

What yield is this cartridge rated for, and what does that mean in practice?

The rating is 17,000 pages at 5% coverage, the same standard used across the industry. Offices printing sunny, warm-toned graphics, highlight-heavy documents, or lots of green imagery will use yellow faster than that rating suggests, while mostly-text offices may barely touch it for months.

How does yellow consumption compare with the black cartridge on this machine?

Black is rated at 23,000 pages on this platform and feeds every text page the office prints, so it normally empties first. Yellow only participates in color work, which is why its level can sit nearly full for a long stretch and then drop quickly during a season of color-heavy printing.

My machine is not a DSC535. Could this still be the right cartridge?

Yes, if it is part of the same platform. This listing carries the Gestetner DSC535 name, but the cartridge itself fits the full Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 family: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. Check your model against that list rather than relying on the name in the title.

Will the machine stop completely when yellow runs out?

Typically the copier will flag the empty cartridge and pause jobs that need color, while straightforward black-only work may still be possible depending on the machine's settings. Either way, the practical fix is the same: swap in the replacement promptly rather than letting partially colored documents pile up.

How am I protected if this cartridge disappoints?

It comes with a one-year warranty, and returns are free throughout that first year. The complete policy is published on our shipping and returns page, and a real person can help Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Yellow Toner Cartridge

This Clever Supplies compatible yellow cartridge, listed here for the Gestetner DSC535, is rated at 17,000 pages for the Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform and priced at $62.51. Yellow is the quiet workhorse behind warm tones, healthy greens, and highlighting, and keeping it fresh is what keeps color output looking intentional instead of faded. The remaining colors for these machines are stocked in our Ricoh toner range, and we ship from IL, PA, GA, and CA.
