Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of everyday printing burns through cyan the fastest?

Anything with blue in it, which is more than most offices expect: charts and graphs, corporate logos, presentation decks, web pages printed with their headers, and of course photos. Greens draw heavily on cyan too, so a department printing color reports can empty this cartridge well ahead of the others.

Why does the cyan run out before the black cartridge does?

Partly capacity — this color is rated at 15,000 pages against the black cartridge's 20,000 — and partly workload, since a single color page can draw cyan on every sheet while black-only work never touches it. At $91.68 for 15,000 rated pages, cyan works out to about 0.61 cents per page, roughly double the black cartridge's per-page cost; that is the honest economics of color on this platform.

Which machines does this cyan cartridge belong to?

It is the 888639 cyan for the shared Aficio color platform — Ricoh Aficio MP C2800 and MP C3300 — and listings may name either model. If your machine's supply list shows the 888639 for cyan, this cartridge is the one it takes.

Why is the yellow cartridge in this family priced higher than cyan?

We price each color cartridge on its own rather than flattening the set to one number, and in this family yellow simply sits higher: the yellow single is listed at $139.30 while cyan and magenta are $91.68 each. We would rather show you that difference plainly on the listing than bury it in a set price.

Can I replace just the cyan, or do the colors have to change together?

Just the cyan. Each color is its own cartridge with its own life, and they rarely run out in step, so replace whichever color the machine reports as empty and leave the others to finish their pages. There is no need to retire a magenta or yellow that still has useful life in it.

What protection comes with this cartridge?

It is covered by our one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it leaks, fades early or otherwise disappoints. The process starts on our shipping and returns page, and a person — not a ticket queue — answers support requests Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.
