Frequently Asked Questions

What does the second cartridge in this 2-pack effectively cost?

Bought on its own, the 44992405 cartridge is $36.57. This 2-pack is $54.65, so once the first cartridge is accounted for at the single price, the second one is effectively costing you $18.08 — about half price. Put the other way round, two singles would total $73.14, and the pack saves you $18.49.

How does that work out per cartridge and per page?

Split evenly, the pack price is about $27.33 a cartridge. Each is rated at up to 1,500 pages, so the box holds roughly 3,000 pages of printing and brings the running cost down to about 1.82 cents per page, against roughly 2.44 cents buying singly.

Why choose a 2-pack instead of jumping straight to a bigger one?

It is the low-commitment step up. If your MB451W goes through a cartridge every couple of months, a 2-pack keeps one spare permanently on the shelf without much money sitting in the cupboard. The 5- and 10-cartridge packs of this same cartridge do cut the unit price further — to about $21.78 and $19.93 — but they only pay if your volume justifies them.

Are both cartridges the same as the single I would buy?

Identical — the same compatible 44992405 black cartridge, rated at the same 1,500 pages, that fits the whole MB451 family: MB451, MB451 MFP, MB451W and MB451W MFP. Nothing is down-specced for the multi-pack.

How should I handle the spare until I need it?

Keep it sealed and stored flat in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Fit cartridges one at a time, only when the current one is spent, and you will get the full rated life from each.

What cover do the two cartridges carry?

Both are backed by a one-year warranty and one-year free returns under the terms on our shipping & returns page, and each is covered individually if something goes wrong. Orders ship from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
