Frequently Asked Questions

How should a workgroup plan around a 3-pack like this?

Treat it as a quarter's black toner, give or take. Three 42918984 cartridges at up to 18,500 pages each is up to 55,500 pages; a shared C9650 with steady document and proofing output will work through that on a predictable rhythm, so one order replaces the drip of single-cartridge purchases and the emergency orders that come with them.

Can we do the full cost accounting on this pack?

Yes, and it is simple: $214.61 buys three cartridges, so $71.54 per cartridge, and across the combined 55,500-page rating the cost is about 0.39 cents per page. That per-page figure is the one to put in a print budget — it already includes the pack saving, with nothing else to estimate.

Does the printer use all three cartridges together?

No — the C9650 holds one black cartridge at a time. The other two wait, sealed, until each change is needed. That is also why the pack is low-risk: the cartridges are identical and interchangeable, so the second and third are simply the next two changes, bought early at a better per-unit price.

Which printers is this cartridge specified for?

The 42918984 black cartridge serves the C9650, C9650n, C9650dn, C9650hdn and C9650hn, and the C7. If you manage more than one of those variants, the same pack restocks all of them — one part number across the fleet is most of the convenience here.

Is this genuine Oki toner?

No. It is a compatible 42918984, newly manufactured to the original cartridge specification rather than an Oki-branded product or a refilled shell. It carries a one-year warranty, and the order is covered by free returns for one year — the practical protections are the same ones you would ask of the branded version.

What if a cartridge in the middle of the pack has a problem?

Contact support — staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — and the warranty and returns cover applies to the cartridge in question, not just the first one opened. Orders ship from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and the policy wording lives on our shipping and returns page.
