Light cyan is why a six-colour printer beats a four-colour one at photographs: pale blue ink laid down in skies and water, where full-strength cyan would grain. Our compatible T277XL520-S is a Claria Photo HD dye light cyan rated up to 740 pages (ISO/IEC 24711 and 24712 pattern), against 360 pages for the standard T277520; code 520 is light cyan throughout the family.

The cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — if a warning appears, reseat the cartridge firmly and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge is at fault. Its siblings are T277XL120-S black (up to 500 pages), T277XL220-S cyan, T277XL320-S magenta, T277XL420-S yellow and T277XL620-S light magenta (up to 740 pages each).
It fits the five verified 277 printers — XP-850, XP-860, XP-950, XP-960 and XP-970 — and no other family. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does light cyan do that cyan does not?
It prints the pale end of the blue range. In skies, water and soft shadows, light cyan droplets blend smoothly where full-strength cyan would show grain — that smoothness is the point of a six-colour photo set.
How many pages does the T277XL520 print?
Up to 740 pages, Epson's published rating for the genuine XL light cyan (ISO/IEC 24711 and 24712 pattern), listed per cartridge as in Epson's own listings.
Which printers take it?
The five verified Expression Photo models: XP-850, XP-860, XP-950, XP-960 and XP-970.
Can cyan go in the light cyan slot?
No. Cyan (220) and Light Cyan (520) are different cartridges in different slots with different inks. The printer will not accept one in the other's place.
Does it have a chip?
Yes — a new compatible chip. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — if a warning appears, reseat the cartridge firmly and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge is at fault.
Is the ink dye or pigment?
Dye — Claria Photo HD. All six 277 inks are dye-based, per Epson's fact sheet.
The printer does not recognise it. What first?
Power off, remove the cartridge, check the chip contacts, reseat until it clicks, and restart. If a firmware update preceded the warning, that is the likely trigger; if it persists, the lifetime warranty covers a replacement.
Is this standard or XL?
XL — T277XL520-S, rated 740 pages. The standard T277520 (360 pages) is not part of our compatible range for this family.
How much ink is in it, in millilitres?
Epson's US documentation publishes no volume for 277 cartridges, so the Volume field is left blank. The ISO yield is the honest figure.
Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?
No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T277XL520-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and this page.
My photos look grainy in the sky. Is light cyan the cause?
It can be: when light cyan empties, the printer leans on full cyan for pale tones and skies turn coarse. A fresh light cyan, plus a nozzle check, usually restores the smoothness.
Single or set?
The single when only light cyan is low. Photo-heavy users often take the Set of 6 or Bulk Set of 13 so both light colours are always on hand — both linked from this page.
