Frequently Asked Questions

What does this 2-pack do to the price of each cartridge?

Two 330-3012 cartridges bought singly would cost $85.20. This 2-pack is $66.71, which brings each cartridge down to about $33.36 and saves $18.49 against the pair of singles. The running cost improves with it: across the pack's 3,000 total rated pages, black printing works out to roughly 2.22 cents a page instead of the single-cartridge 2.84 cents — still small-machine economics, just less steep.

Why keep a spare for a printer that only prints a little?

Because a small printer that stops still stops the work. The pattern this pack suits is one cartridge in the Dell 1230 and one on the shelf: when the installed unit fades, the swap takes a minute, nobody waits on a delivery, and the reorder happens calmly afterwards instead of under pressure with the printer already dark.

How much printing does the pack represent in total?

Each 330-3012 is rated at 1,500 pages, so the pair covers up to 3,000 black pages between them. At a light 100 pages a month that is around thirty months of supply; at 250 a month, about a year. Ratings assume standard coverage, so heavier pages shorten the real figure, but as a planning number 3,000 pages is the pack's honest capacity.

Are both cartridges the same black unit?

Yes. This is two of the same compatible 330-3012 black cartridge for the Dell 1230 — there is no variation between the pair, and the second is simply the shelf spare for the first. It is not a mixed set and contains no color cartridges; colors for this printer are bought separately when they eventually run down.

Is this Dell's own cartridge in a twin box?

No. These are third-party compatible cartridges built to the specification the 1230's black slot works with, sold here as a 2-pack. The $66.71 price, the per-cartridge saving and the cover below all apply to these compatible units, not to Dell-branded stock.

What cover applies to the pack?

Both cartridges carry a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns. The terms are set out on our shipping & returns page, help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA or CA.
