Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this cartridge identified by the number 330-3012 instead of a printer name?

Because the number is the exact identifier, and these small Dell color lasers were sold under several close names. 330-3012 is the black cartridge for the Dell Color Laser 1230c and Color Laser 1235c, and ordering by the number removes the guesswork between look-alike models. If the cartridge you pulled out, your last invoice or your shelf label carries 330-3012, this listing is that cartridge: one black unit, rated at 1,500 pages, priced at $42.60.

What does $42.60 for 1,500 pages say about the running cost?

It works out to about 2.84 cents per black page, and there is no point dressing that up: it is an expensive way to print per page, because small cartridges for small machines always are. The 330-3012 is a little unit for a little printer, and its economics suit light, occasional black printing — a few letters and forms a week — not sustained document volume.

How long will one cartridge actually last us?

Translate the rating into your own volume. At 75 black pages a month, 1,500 pages is roughly twenty months of printing; at 200 a month, about seven to eight months. The 1,500-page figure is a standard-coverage rating, so dense pages with heavy black coverage will land below it, but for the modest black load a 1230c or 1235c usually carries, one cartridge is a long-interval supply.

Is this a genuine Dell cartridge?

No. This is a compatible 330-3012 cartridge from a third-party manufacturer, built to the specification the black slot in the 1230c and 1235c works with. The $42.60 price, the 1,500-page rating and the cover described below all belong to this compatible unit, not to Dell-branded stock.

When the black runs out, do the color cartridges have to change too?

No. Each cartridge in these printers lives its own life, and black is replaced on its own schedule while the colors stay in place. That independence is exactly why a single black listing like this one exists: most small offices burn through black long before any color needs attention.

What cover comes with it?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a cartridge that fails early comes back to us instead of becoming your write-off. The full terms sit on our shipping & returns page, support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders leave from warehouses in IL, PA, GA or CA.
