Frequently Asked Questions

When is the right moment to reorder magenta?

At the first low-toner warning or the first visible fade in reds — whichever you notice first. Both arrive while the MF656Cdw can still print respectably, which gives a replacement time to arrive. Waiting for a full stop turns a two-minute swap into a stalled printer and a rushed order.

What exactly breaks in our output when magenta empties?

Everything warm or purple. Reds lose their magenta partner and slide orange under yellow's (5099C001) influence; purples become blue as cyan (5101C001) works alone; pinks vanish toward white. Black 5102C001 keeps text printing untouched, which can disguise the problem until a color job lands. The MF656Cdw can only print mixtures from supplies it actually has.

How does the rated yield apply to our mixed office work?

The rating for the 067 magenta (5100C001) is up to 1,250 pages at standard coverage. A mixed workload — mostly documents, some color — is gentle on magenta because everyday pages use little of it; a graphics-heavy month is not. At $64.27 the rated cost is about 5.14 cents per page, and we describe it honestly as premium-class pricing for compatible toner.

Is installation just a straight swap?

Yes. Remove the old magenta from the MF656Cdw, seat the new 5100C001, close up, and print something with a known red in it to confirm the fix. No tools, no settings, no calibration ritual.

What cover stands behind this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty plus one-year free returns — full terms on our shipping and returns page. The cartridge is a compatible Canon 067 magenta, not genuine Canon manufacture, and the year's coverage is what turns a first purchase into a low-risk test.

Can I order the other colors at the same time?

If their levels are also low, yes — one delivery, no second wait. But check rather than assume: each 067 cartridge in the MF656Cdw lives an independent life, and replacing a healthy cyan or yellow early wastes the yield inside it.
