Frequently Asked Questions

When should I reorder cyan so the printer never stops?

Reorder when the MF656Cdw first reports low cyan, not when it stops. The warning arrives with useful life still in the cartridge — enough for normal printing while a replacement travels. A fresh 5101C001 on hand before the old one empties means the swap takes two minutes at a moment you choose, not during a deadline run.

What does the cyan cartridge control in this printer's output?

In the Canon 067 set — black 5102C001, cyan 5101C001, magenta 5100C001, yellow 5099C001 — cyan is responsible for blues and, together with yellow, greens. Low cyan does not make pages slightly blue-tinted; it removes blue from the palette, so skies grey out, corporate blues drift, and greens slide yellow. The MF656Cdw can only mix from what each cartridge supplies.

How does the yield rating translate for a mixed workload?

The rating is up to 1,250 pages at the standard test coverage. A mixed office workload — some color reports, some plain documents — will treat cyan kindly, because text pages draw on the black cartridge and barely touch the colors. A marketing-heavy workload draws it down faster. Either way, at $64.27 the rated figure works out near 5.14 cents per page, which we describe honestly as premium-family pricing rather than a bargain.

Does installing this cartridge need any tools or settings?

None. The 067 colors in the MF656Cdw are individual cartridges; open, remove the old cyan, seat the new 5101C001, close. Print a familiar color document to confirm blues and greens are back where they belong.

What backing stands behind this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns, with the terms on our shipping and returns page. It is a compatible cartridge made to the Canon 067 cyan specification — not a genuine Canon part — and the year's coverage is how we stand behind that distinction.

Can I order this together with other 067 colors?

Yes, and it is worth checking levels first: if magenta or yellow are also low, ordering them in the same basket saves a second wait. But only replace what is low — each cartridge has independent life, and healthy cartridges pulled early are money discarded.
