Frequently Asked Questions

The cartridge is finished. What should I do with the empty one?

Don't bin it with household rubbish if you can avoid it — spent toner cartridges are recyclable almost everywhere. Most office-supply stores and many municipal recycling points accept empties, and community collection boxes exist for exactly this. Slip the old Canon 067 (5102C001) back into the box the new one arrived in to keep any residual toner dust contained, and drop it off on your next trip.

Is this a refilled or remanufactured cartridge?

Neither. This is a new compatible Canon 067 black cartridge (5102C001) — built new to fit and work in the MF656CDW, not a used Canon shell refilled with toner, and not a Canon original either. We label it plainly because the distinction matters: new components, a full rated fill of 1,350 pages, and performance you can hold to the warranty below.

How many pages should I expect from it?

The rating is 1,350 pages under standard test conditions. Light text documents hew close to it; graphics-heavy pages use toner faster and finish sooner. In the MF656CDW the black cartridge also carries nearly all document printing, so it will normally be the first of the four cartridges to empty — the cyan (5101C001), magenta (5100C001) and yellow (5099C001) live their own, usually longer, lives.

Check my order: is 5102C001 the black for the MF656CDW?

It is — the standard-yield Canon 067 black for the Color imageCLASS MF656CDW. Match 5102C001 against the label of the cartridge being replaced. If the old label reads 067H (5106C001), you had the high-yield version fitted; this standard cartridge fits the same machine and suits lighter use.

Does the 2 pack make more sense than this single?

It can. Two singles cost $128.54; the 2 pack of the same 5102C001 is $110.07, putting each cartridge at $55.04 and saving $18.47. If your MF656CDW empties blacks at a steady pace, the pair is the cheaper habit. If it prints occasionally, this single keeps less of your money sitting in a cupboard.

What backs the cartridge if it underperforms?

A one-year warranty with one-year free returns — the terms are on our shipping and returns page. Support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA.
