Frequently Asked Questions

The MF735Cdw says one of the colours is low — how do we work out if it is the magenta?

Two ways. The machine's supplies status names each cartridge separately, so check which slot it is pointing at. Then confirm with your eyes: low magenta shows up as reds drifting orange, purples collapsing into blue and faces losing their pink. If that is the picture your MF735Cdw is painting, the 046HM is the cartridge to order.

What other symptoms point at this cartridge?

Magenta fading is a warm-colour story. Company reds go brick-coloured, sunset photos lose their fire, and purple headings print as plain blue — while blues, greens and black text stay perfectly healthy, because those belong to the other slots. Warm wrong, cool fine: that pattern is the 046HM's fingerprint.

How many pages does the replacement give us?

Up to 5,000 pages at the rated yield. On a shared MF735Cdw that total is spent by everyone who prints or copies in colour, so busier offices move through it faster — but a high-yield fill still means this conversation happens far less often than it would with a standard cartridge. At $36.47, the rating is about 0.73 cents a page.

What are the matching cartridges for the other slots?

Cyan is the 046HC, yellow is the 046HY and black is the 046HBK — the rest of the Canon 046H high-yield family. Keeping all four at the H level keeps their service intervals roughly in step, so the machine is not forever stopping for one colour at a time.

Does the 046HM fit the other machines in the family?

Yes — Canon's imageCLASS MF735Cdw, MF731Cdw and MF733Cdw multifunction machines and the LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw printers all run the 046 family. If the cartridge in the magenta slot reads Canon 046, this 046HM is its high-yield counterpart.

What if the new cartridge gives us trouble?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The details are on our shipping and returns page, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
