Frequently Asked Questions

Why do our greens keep printing with a yellow, washed-out cast?

Green on paper is cyan laid down with yellow. When the 046HC starts running dry, cyan's half of that mix thins out, so greens slide toward a sickly yellow and lose their depth, while blues come out flat and dull. If your charts, leaflets and logos have taken on that washed-out cast, the Canon 046H cyan is the first cartridge to check.

How many pages does the 046HC actually give us?

The 046HC is rated at up to 5,000 pages. Coverage decides how close you get: a page carrying one small teal logo sips cyan, while a full-bleed photo drinks it. At $36.47, the rated yield works out to roughly 0.73 cents per page for the cyan share of your colour printing.

What work does cyan do that the other cartridges cannot?

Cyan is half of every blue and every green the printer makes — skies, water, teal branding, the green bars in a spreadsheet chart. Black cannot substitute for it and neither can magenta or yellow. When cyan is healthy, cool colours look clean; when it fades, the whole cool half of the palette goes wrong at once.

The standard Canon 046 cyan is also $36.47 — what is the difference?

The fill. The standard cartridge, code 046C, is rated at 2,300 pages, which at the same $36.47 works out near 1.59 cents a page. This 046HC is the high-yield member of the Canon 046H line and carries 5,000 pages — 2,700 more pages for identical money. Same shelf price, very different arithmetic.

Which printers take the Canon 046H cyan?

The 046 family serves Canon's imageCLASS LBP654Cdw, LBP654Cfw, MF731Cdw, MF733Cdw and MF735Cdw colour laser machines. If the cartridge that came out of your printer is marked Canon 046 and sits in the cyan slot, this 046HC is its high-yield replacement.

What happens if this cartridge gives us trouble?

Every cartridge we sell is covered for a full year, and if it is not right for your machine you have a year of free returns to send it back. The details are on our shipping and returns page, and a real person on our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
