Frequently Asked Questions

What does the magenta in our MF733Cdw output cost per page?

Roughly 0.73 cents. The 046HM is priced at $36.47 and rated at up to 5,000 pages, and that division is the magenta cost baked into every colour page the MF733Cdw turns out. Coverage on your own pages shifts the real figure a little, but as a budgeting number it is the honest one.

How does that compare with the standard Canon 046 magenta?

Unusually, the standard cartridge is no cheaper to buy: the 046M also sits at $36.47. But it is rated at only 2,300 pages, so its per-page cost lands near 1.59 cents — more than double this 046HM's. The high-yield cartridge gives you 2,700 additional pages for the same money off the shelf.

The reds in our presentations have gone rusty — is this the fix?

Almost certainly. Presentation reds are magenta and yellow together, and a tiring Canon 046H magenta lets the mix sag toward rust and brick. On a shared MF733Cdw the fade is gradual enough that people blame the slides first — swap the 046HM and the reds come back.

How long will one cartridge serve a shared multifunction machine?

The rating is up to 5,000 pages, and on the MF733Cdw that total is spent by copies as well as prints. Even with a busy office's colour habits, a high-yield fill means the magenta slot needs attention a fraction as often as the 2,300-page standard cartridge would.

Which printers does the 046HM belong in?

The Canon 046 family: imageCLASS MF733Cdw, MF731Cdw and MF735Cdw multifunction machines, plus the LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw printers. Any of them running a Canon 046 in the magenta slot can use this 046HM.

What cover does the cartridge carry?

A 1-year warranty, with free returns for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
