Frequently Asked Questions

Our logo red prints orange on the LBP654Cdw — which cartridge do we blame?

The magenta. Red on paper is magenta laid over yellow, and when the 046HM starts to fade, yellow wins the argument and red slides toward orange. Brand colours drift gradually, so an orange logo is usually a tired Canon 046H magenta announcing itself — check it before you blame the file or the printer.

Is this the same cartridge as the main Canon 046HM listing?

Yes. This is the Canon 046H magenta, code 046HM, listed under the LBP654Cdw so that owners of this printer find the right colour without decoding the family tree. Same cartridge, same 5,000-page rating, same $36.47 price as the main listing.

How many pages should we expect from it?

Up to 5,000 pages at the rated yield. A document printer like the LBP654Cdw spends magenta mostly on logos, charts and letterheads, so in ordinary office use one 046HM can run for a long stretch. Pages flooded with red or photography will naturally spend it sooner.

What does the magenta share of a page cost?

About 0.73 cents — $36.47 spread over a rated 5,000 pages. The standard Canon 046 magenta, code 046M, costs the same $36.47 but is rated at 2,300 pages, landing near 1.59 cents a page. For the LBP654Cdw, the high-yield 046HM is the cheaper cartridge to run by a wide margin.

Does the 046HM fit other printers in the family?

It does — the whole Canon 046 range: the imageCLASS LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw, and the MF731Cdw, MF733Cdw and MF735Cdw multifunction machines. Any of them with a Canon 046 cartridge in the magenta slot can run this high-yield version.

What if it gives us trouble?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The policy is set out on our shipping and returns page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
