The yellow. Text stays sharp because black minds its own cartridge, but a copied page's warmth comes from the 046HY — and as it empties, copies drift cold and blue-looking even though nothing else is wrong. Icy copies with perfect text are the Canon 046H yellow's signature.

Why do the greens in copied leaflets turn blue first?

Green is the most yellow-dependent colour on the page: cyan plus yellow, in roughly equal partnership. When the yellow half fades, greens are the first colours to betray it, sliding toward blue while reds still look passable. If your MF731Cdw's copied leaflets have blue-green foliage, the 046HY is nearly done.

How many pages should we plan on — prints and copies together?
