Frequently Asked Questions

The MF733Cdw warned that yellow was low a week ago, but pages still look fine — swap now or wait?

You can wait a little, but order now. Low-toner warnings are deliberately early, and yellow is the slowest colour to betray itself — the pages keep looking acceptable while the last of the 046HY drains away. Use the warning as your reorder trigger, then swap when the greens start sliding blue. That way the spare is already on the shelf when the colour actually goes.

How do we spot the moment the yellow is really empty?

Watch the greens and the warmth. Green is cyan plus yellow, so a finished yellow turns grass, leaves and green charts unmistakably blue, and the whole page loses its warm cast. On the MF733Cdw those two changes together — blue greens, cold pages — are the reliable signal, more honest than the warning light.

How many pages does the replacement give us?

Up to 5,000 pages at the rated yield, prints and copies combined. That is the Canon 046H high-yield fill, so replacements are rare events rather than monthly chores. At $36.47, the rated cost is roughly 0.73 cents per page.

What does the yellow share of a page cost on this cartridge?

About 0.73 cents. For contrast, the standard Canon 046 yellow, code 046Y, costs the same $36.47 to buy but is rated at 2,300 pages — near 1.59 cents a page, more than double. The 046HY's larger fill is what makes it the cheaper cartridge to run on a shared MF733Cdw.

Which printers does the 046HY fit?

The Canon 046 family: imageCLASS MF733Cdw, MF731Cdw and MF735Cdw multifunction machines, and the LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw printers. Any of them running a Canon 046 cartridge in the yellow slot can take this high-yield 046HY.

What if we have a problem with the cartridge?

It carries a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The full wording is on our shipping and returns page, with support available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This MF733Cdw Yellow Cartridge (046HY)
