Frequently Asked Questions

What does the cyan share of our MF733Cdw pages cost per page?

About 0.73 cents. The 046HC costs $36.47 and is rated at up to 5,000 pages, and dividing one by the other gives you the cyan cost of every colour page the MF733Cdw produces. Real coverage moves your personal figure, but as a planning number it is hard to beat.

How does that compare with the standard Canon 046 cyan?

The standard cartridge, code 046C, is also priced at $36.47 — yet it is rated at only 2,300 pages, which works out near 1.59 cents a page, more than double the per-page cost of this 046HC. Same shelf price, same printer family; the high-yield cartridge simply carries 2,700 extra pages.

The greens in our boardroom charts have gone muddy — is cyan behind it?

Very likely. Green is cyan plus yellow, and a tiring 046HC starves that mix until greens turn muddy and olive, while blues lose their cleanliness at the same time. On a shared MF733Cdw the change creeps up gradually, which is why muddy charts are often the first complaint you hear.

How long should one cartridge last a busy shared machine?

The rating is up to 5,000 pages. A multifunction machine in a busy office spends cyan on copies as well as prints, and colour-heavy work pulls the real figure down — but even so, the high-yield fill means the cyan slot needs attention far less often than it would with the 2,300-page standard cartridge.

Which printers use this cartridge?

Canon's imageCLASS 046 family: the MF733Cdw, its MF731Cdw and MF735Cdw siblings, and the LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw printers. If the cartridge you pulled out is marked Canon 046 and came from the cyan slot, this 046HC is the high-yield version of it.

What happens if we have a problem with it?

You are covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if the cartridge is not right for your machine. The full policy is on our shipping and returns page, with support available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
