Frequently Asked Questions

Our LBP654Cdw still prints black perfectly, but colour pages have gone pale — where do we look?

Black text runs off its own cartridge, so crisp letters tell you nothing about the colour slots. Pale, washed-out colour on the LBP654Cdw usually means one colour is fading, and cyan is the one whose loss shows first: blues lose their punch and greens turn anaemic. Check the 046HC in the cyan slot before you start changing print settings.

Is this the same cartridge as the main Canon 046HC listing?

Yes — this is the Canon 046H cyan, code 046HC, filed under the LBP654Cdw so owners of this printer land straight on the right colour. Same 5,000-page rating, same $36.47 price, same cartridge that the main listing sells for the whole 046 family.

How long will 5,000 pages last in a printer that only prints?

Longer than most people expect. A single-function machine like the LBP654Cdw spends its toner on documents alone, and ordinary office pages carry modest cyan coverage, so a 5,000-page cartridge can cover many months of everyday colour work. Heavy graphics and full-page colour shorten that, as they would with any cartridge.

What does the cyan share of a page cost here?

At $36.47 for a rated 5,000 pages, about 0.73 cents per page. Compare the standard Canon 046 cyan, code 046C: it sits at the same $36.47 but is rated at 2,300 pages, which lands near 1.59 cents a page. On the LBP654Cdw the high-yield 046HC is simply the cheaper way to print the same documents.

Does the 046HC fit anything besides the LBP654Cdw?

It serves the whole Canon 046 printer family — the imageCLASS LBP654Cdw and LBP654Cfw printers and the MF731Cdw, MF733Cdw and MF735Cdw multifunction machines. Any of them that takes a Canon 046 cartridge in the cyan slot can run this 046HC.

What if the cartridge arrives faulty or disappoints?

It carries a 1-year warranty, and returns stay free for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The full terms sit on our shipping and returns page, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
