Frequently Asked Questions

Our MF628Cw's colour pages just look "off" — how do we work out if yellow is the one that is low?

Print one page you know well — a photo with grass and sky, or a document with the company colours. If the sky still reads blue but the grass has gone teal and everything warm looks drained, yellow is missing from the mix. That specific pattern is the Canon 131 yellow (131Y) running out; cyan trouble would take the sky down with it.

Why does a low yellow not trigger a more obvious failure?

Because the printer can still build a page without it — just a wrongly balanced one. Yellow rarely carries an element on its own, so its absence registers as a mood across the whole sheet rather than a missing piece. Owners often print for weeks on a fading 131Y before a side-by-side comparison gives it away.

What is this cartridge rated at?

The Canon 131 yellow is rated at 1,500 pages, matching the cyan (131C) and magenta (131M); the black 131BK is rated at 2,400 pages. Each single is $34.70, and the MF628Cw takes all four as separate cartridges, so yellow is replaced alone when yellow is the problem.

Is this an original Canon cartridge?

No — it is a compatible Canon 131 yellow cartridge, manufactured to the 131Y specification and sold under our own brand. It installs in the MF628Cw the same way the original does; you are paying $34.70 rather than the Canon-branded price.

Once we swap it, does the colour come back immediately?

Yes — the first full-colour page after the swap should show greens back on the green side and warm tones warm again. If a drift remains after a fresh 131Y, another colour is low as well, and the same test page will show you which.

What protection does it carry?

A 1-year warranty, and free returns within the first year if the cartridge fails to perform. We ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, with support available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page.
