The pale backgrounds on our pages used to print warm cream — now they are stark blue-white. What changed?

The yellow gave out quietly. Warm off-whites and creams are mixed with a touch of yellow, so when the Canon 131 yellow (131Y) fades in the MF624Cw, those backgrounds snap to a cold, bluish white and the whole page feels harsher. Nothing else needs to be wrong — black text and strong colours can look untouched while every subtle warm tone is gone.

Why does yellow fade without any single page looking terrible?

Because it leaves gradually and hides inside other colours. Each page loses a little warmth; greens shift a little bluer; photographs cool down a little. No individual print rings an alarm, which is why the 131Y is so often discovered by comparison — a page printed today next to the same page printed last month.

How many pages is the yellow rated for?

The Canon 131 yellow is rated at 1,500 pages, the same as the cyan (131C) and magenta (131M) and below the black 131BK's 2,400-page rating. A single is $34.70, and it can be replaced entirely on its own — the MF624Cw's four cartridges are separate units.

Is this cartridge made by Canon?

No — it is a compatible Canon 131 yellow cartridge manufactured to the 131Y specification and sold under our own brand. It installs in the MF624Cw just as the original does; the difference is the name on the box and the $34.70 price.

Should we replace yellow before it is completely empty?

If colour accuracy matters to the work — client documents, photos, anything with a house colour in it — yes, swap at the first clear drift rather than waiting for the cartridge to stop entirely. For plain internal paperwork, you can run it further; the black cartridge carries documents regardless of the yellow's state.
