Frequently Asked Questions

Six color cartridges and no black — who buys a set like this?

People whose printing is color-led. Brochures, graphics, teaching materials, color-coded paperwork — work where cyan, magenta and yellow do the heavy lifting and fade together, while the black cartridge ticks over slowly on the occasional text page. For that pattern, stocking colors in depth and letting black look after itself is simply how the consumption actually runs.

Which cartridges are in the box?

Six Canon 045H color cartridges drawn from the family's three color codes: 045HC cyan, 045HM magenta and 045HY yellow, each cartridge rated at up to 2,200 pages. All six are the high-yield H versions and each is individually sealed, so the stock can sit on the shelf and be drawn down color by color as the printer calls for them.

What does the six-pack do to the per-cartridge price?

The set is $109.38, which averages about $18.23 per cartridge. Bought as singles, these colors cost $33.64 each — six of them would be $201.84 — so stocking at this size cuts the cost of a color cartridge close to half. Against the three-color set's average of roughly $21.31 a cartridge, doubling up shaves a little more off every swap.

Do the colors really run down together closely enough to justify six?

In color-heavy work, broadly yes. Almost every colored element on a page is built from cyan, magenta and yellow in combination, so the three are consumed side by side rather than one at a time. They rarely finish on the same day, but they finish in the same season — which is why a shared pool of six, fitted in whatever order the warnings arrive, matches the reality better than three separate emergency orders.

How is black handled alongside this set?

Separately, on purpose. The sibling Canon 045H black cartridge, 045HBK, is rated at up to 2,800 pages and has its own singles and multi-pack listings. Color-led printers often need two rounds of color attention inside one black cartridge's life, so keeping the two on independent reorder cycles avoids paying for black you do not yet need just to get the colors you do.

What warranty and delivery come with the set?

Every cartridge is a compatible cartridge backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, and cover is handled cartridge by cartridge — a single faulty color is returned on its own. You can read the full terms on our shipping and returns page. We ship from whichever warehouse in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California is nearest you, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
