Frequently Asked Questions

Why five cartridges — what does the fifth one buy us?

Breathing room. A four-cartridge set covers each slot once; this five-cartridge set spans the same four Canon 045H codes — 045HBK black, 045HC cyan, 045HM magenta and 045HY yellow — with one cartridge in reserve beyond the straight set of four. The day a low-toner warning lands, the spare is already in the building, and the reorder conversation happens on your schedule instead of the printer's.

What are the ratings across the set?

Every cartridge is from the high-yield Canon 045H class: the black code 045HBK is rated at up to 2,800 pages, and the three color codes — 045HC, 045HM and 045HY — are rated at up to 2,200 pages each. Real life moves with coverage, so treat those as the class benchmarks they are: text-heavy work runs long, dense color pages run shorter.

How does the price compare with the 4-pack and with singles?

At $91.93 for five cartridges, the average cost per cartridge falls to about $18.39 — below the roughly $19.49 average inside the $77.94 four-color set, and far below the $32.49 to $33.64 these Canon 045H cartridges cost as singles. Each step up in set size shaves a little more off the per-cartridge price, and five is the step where a working spare joins the set.

Who is the five-cartridge size actually for?

Offices whose printer cannot politely wait. If a stopped machine means stopped invoices, stopped labels or a queue of people at one shared printer, the reserve cartridge earns its shelf space the first time it turns a toner warning into a two-minute swap. A genuinely light-use home printer, by contrast, will usually find the four-color set the right size.

Will the spare cartridge go stale sitting in its box?

No. These are sealed compatible cartridges, and toner is a dry powder — it does not dry out or expire the way liquid ink can. Keep the spare in its packaging, in a normal room rather than a hot or damp corner, and it will be ready whenever the printer asks for it, whether that is next month or much later.

What cover comes with the set, and how is it delivered?

Each cartridge is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, assessed cartridge by cartridge, so a fault in one never drags the others into a return. Full details are on our shipping and returns page. We dispatch from the nearest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
