Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in this set?

Four individual cartridges: 1 x LC79BK (black), 1 x LC79C (cyan), 1 x LC79M (magenta) and 1 x LC79Y (yellow), each separately sealed with its own chip.

Which printers does this set fit?

Only four: MFC-J5910DW, MFC-J6510DW, MFC-J6710DW and MFC-J6910DW. That is the complete LC79 fit list — the seven smaller models in this family physically cannot take these cartridges.

What are the page yields of the cartridges in this set?

Per cartridge: black up to 2,400 pages, each color up to 1,200 pages (ISO/IEC 24711). We do not merge the four ratings into one set total; each slot empties on its own schedule.

How does this set compare with the LC75 set of 4?

Both sets hold one of each color, but they are different tiers. LC75 (600 pages per cartridge) fits all 11 models in the family. LC79 fits only the four large models, and in return the black lasts four times as long and the colors twice as long per cartridge.

I print mostly black documents — is a single black cartridge enough?

For most users, yes: the LC79BK in this set is rated up to 2,400 pages on its own. If your black volume is exceptionally heavy, single black cartridges and the family's bulk box exist for topping up without buying full sets.

Will my printer recognize these cartridges?

Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip. Recognition problems are uncommon but can appear after a printer firmware update, usually as a 'Cannot Detect' message. Take the cartridge out, check the chip contact is clean, push it back until it clicks, and restart the printer. We do not claim recognition under every possible firmware state — if it still fails, reach out and we will handle it under the warranty.

Can I install the black now and the colors later?

Yes. The slots are independent: fit whichever cartridge has run out and keep the others sealed in the box. There is no need to change all four at once.

Is this a genuine Brother product?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible set built to the LC79 specification, labeled compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Brother.

My printer currently runs LC75 cartridges — can I switch to this set?

Yes, if your model is one of the four large machines listed for this set. Those models accept both tiers, and you can change over one slot at a time as each LC75 cartridge empties.

How do I confirm my printer is an LC79 model before ordering?

Check the model name on the printer itself against the Compatible Printers list below, or look at the code on a cartridge you already use. In this family the model — not the cartridge family name — decides which tiers fit, so the model check is the one that counts.

What happens if a cartridge in the set fails early?

It is covered by our lifetime warranty: a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced. Keep the failed cartridge until you contact us, so we can identify the issue quickly.

What returns policy applies to this set?

Free returns within the first year, following our standing policy for compatible products, in addition to the lifetime warranty.
