How many pages does the set print?

Per cartridge, never summed: black up to 260 pages; cyan, magenta and yellow up to 260 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711). Colors empty at different rates, so we never add the four figures into a single set yield.

Which printers does this set fit?

Six WorkSmart models: MFC-J460DW, MFC-J480DW, MFC-J485DW, MFC-J680DW, MFC-J880DW and MFC-J885DW. The Business Smart half of the family does not take LC201 at all.

Will my printer recognize this compatible cartridge?

This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — remove the cartridge, check that the green chip contact is clean and untouched, reseat it firmly, and restart the printer. Brother's own "Cannot Detect" guidance for this family starts from the same chip check, and this family reads ink level from the chip and an optical sensor together. We do not claim guaranteed recognition on every firmware version; if a cartridge still will not register, the lifetime warranty covers it.

Is this set fulfilled with LC203-bodied cartridges?

Our source fulfills LC201 singles with the LC203-bodied cartridge (same case, same slot, high-yield tier body, LC201 label), and the same fulfillment applies to the cartridges in this set. We state it openly on both pages rather than pretending the LC201 and LC203 ranges are built from different bodies.

Honest answer: most owners of these six printers standardize on LC203 (550 pages per cartridge against 260). This LC201 set is the right box when you want the specification the printer shipped with, at the lower upfront cost — or when the printer prints lightly and a standard fill lasts months.

Can I install half the set now and keep the rest?

Yes. Install the colors you need and store the remainder sealed and upright; open each cartridge only when its turn comes.

Are the cartridges in the set chipped?

Yes — each of the four carries a new compatible chip. Handle them by the housing and keep fingers off the small green chip contacts, as Brother's own guides instruct.

My printer came with LC203 Starter cartridges. Are these the same?

No — and Brother says so itself: the LC203 Starter (setup) cartridges supplied with a new printer are not the same as retail high-yield LC203 cartridges, and Starter units are a known cause of 'Cannot Detect' messages when mixed up with retail stock. This product is the retail LC203 specification at the full 550-page rating; setup cartridges are never part of a compatible listing here.

Is this a genuine Brother set?

What if one cartridge in the set is faulty?

The lifetime warranty covers each cartridge individually — a single faulty cartridge is replaced on its own; the set does not go back as a unit. Free returns apply within the first year.
