What exactly is in this LC209/LC205 Set of 4 box?

Four individual super-high-yield cartridges: 1 × LC209BK Black, 1 × LC205C Cyan, 1 × LC205M Magenta, 1 × LC205Y Yellow — the complete super-high tier for its three printers. There is no 'LC205 black' in the box because Brother never made one; the black of this tier is the LC209BK.

How many pages does the set print?

Per cartridge, never summed: black up to 2,400 pages; each color up to 1,200 pages (ISO/IEC 24711). Cartridges empty at different rates, so the four figures are never added into a set total.

Which printers does this set fit?

Three models: MFC-J5520DW, MFC-J5620DW and MFC-J5720DW. The other Business Smart trio needs the LC207 black's set instead, and the WorkSmart six take no super-high tier at all.

Will my printer recognize this compatible cartridge?

This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — remove the cartridge, check that the green chip contact is clean and untouched, reseat it firmly, and restart the printer. Brother's own "Cannot Detect" guidance for this family starts from the same chip check, and this family reads ink level from the chip and an optical sensor together. We do not claim guaranteed recognition on every firmware version; if a cartridge still will not register, the lifetime warranty covers it.

When does the super-high set beat the LC203 set?

When the printer prints steadily and cartridge changes are the interruption you want to stretch: the black here is rated far beyond the LC203BK's 550 pages and every color doubles it. For occasional printing, the LC203 Set of 4 remains the lower-cost reset.

Can I install half the set now and keep the rest?

Yes. Install the slots that are low and store the remainder sealed and upright; open each cartridge only when its turn comes.

Why is there no LC207 black in this box?

Because this set is built for MFC-J5520DW, MFC-J5620DW and MFC-J5720DW, whose super-high black is the LC209BK. The LC207BK belongs to the other trio and does not fit these printers.

Are the cartridges in the set chipped?

Yes — each of the four carries a new compatible chip. Handle them by the housing and keep fingers off the small green chip contacts.

Can I mix set cartridges with LC203 singles later?

Yes — slots are independent, so an LC203 single can refill any one position of a printer running this set, and vice versa.

Is this a genuine Brother set?

What if one cartridge in the set is faulty?

No — and Brother says so itself: the LC203 Starter (setup) cartridges supplied with a new printer are not the same as retail high-yield LC203 cartridges, and Starter units are a known cause of 'Cannot Detect' messages when mixed up with retail stock.
