Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of machine schedule does a 44,000-page black cartridge create?

A long one. The Canon GPR-30 black — part number 2789B003AA — is rated at up to 44,000 pages, so on the high-volume colour imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE machines it serves (the C5045, C5051 and ADVANCE C5250/C5255 class), a black change becomes a quarterly event rather than a monthly chore. Facilities teams like that rhythm: one planned swap, logged against the meter, instead of a mid-run stoppage on a deadline job.

How does the black's rating compare with the colours in this family?

Closely, which is unusual. The GPR-30 colours are rated at 38,000 pages each against the black's 44,000, so on a mixed workload the four cartridges run down at broadly similar rates rather than the black outlasting the colours two-to-one as it does in smaller families. A site can sensibly hold one spare of each GPR-30 part number and expect them to be needed within a similar window.

What does black output cost per page with this cartridge?

At $119.09 and a rating of up to 44,000 pages, the black component costs roughly 0.27 cents per page at standard coverage. For a cost centre charging departments per copy, that is the black figure to build into the rate; each colour carries its own.

Why do our stores records show this under 2789B003AA rather than "GPR-30 black"?

Because fleet and MPS contracts are written against Canon part numbers, and 2789B003AA is the unambiguous identifier for the GPR-30 black — the colours run 2793B003AA (cyan), 2797B003AA (magenta) and 2801B003AA (yellow). Ordering by part number also protects you when two families have similar names: a GPR-30 cartridge is not interchangeable with the GPR-31 line, however close the descriptions read.

Text has gone pale across the whole page — change the cartridge or call service?

Try the cartridge first. Evenly fading text on a high-volume machine most often means the black is at the end of its 44,000-page rating. Rock the cartridge gently side to side and print a test page: if density returns briefly, order the replacement now; if nothing changes, the cartridge is finished. Weakness in one colour only, or repeating marks, is a different problem — that is when service earns its call-out fee.

What protection comes with a compatible cartridge at this volume?

The same as on every cartridge we sell: a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. If a 2789B003AA underperforms, it comes back to us. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the full terms sit on our shipping & returns page.
