Frequently Asked Questions

Our brand colour is a deep red — why does the magenta empty faster than expected?

Because red is built almost entirely from magenta and yellow, and a house style heavy on red — logos, headings, branded covers — draws the magenta cartridge, part number 2797B003AA, down well ahead of a mixed workload. The Canon GPR-30 magenta is rated at up to 38,000 pages at standard coverage, but coverage on a red-dominant page is anything but standard. If your output leans red, plan this cartridge's replacement by the meter, not by comparison with the other colours.

Why are the magenta and yellow priced the same, but the cyan cheaper?

That is simply the pricing on the listings. The GPR-30 magenta and yellow singles are both $122.73; the cyan is $85.81; all three carry an identical 38,000-page rating. At $122.73, this magenta works out at roughly 0.32 cents per page at standard coverage. We would rather state the spread plainly than dress it up — it is a listing price, not a specification difference.

How do we confirm 2797B003AA is the magenta and not another colour?

The GPR-30 part numbers step in sequence: black 2789B003AA, cyan 2793B003AA, magenta 2797B003AA, yellow 2801B003AA. If your requisition or stores system shows 2797B003AA, it is this magenta cartridge for the imageRUNNER C5045/C5051 and imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5250/C5255. Checking the code on the box before the seal is broken takes seconds and prevents a wrong-colour swap on a shared production machine.

Reds are printing orange and faces look flushed — is the magenta at fault?

Very likely. A fading magenta starves reds of their depth, pushing them toward orange and giving skin tones a sunburned cast, while blues and greens print normally. Print a solid red test block: rusty or uneven output confirms the magenta is the unit to change. If the red is strong but banded, that pattern points at the machine instead.

Do we need to replace the yellow at the same time?

No. Each GPR-30 cartridge is independent and changed on its own schedule. Red-heavy work may well have worn the yellow alongside the magenta, and a test page will show whether it has — but a healthy yellow should stay in the machine and finish its own 38,000-page rating.

What cover applies if this cartridge underperforms?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, as with every compatible cartridge we sell. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want help separating a toner problem from a machine problem first, and full terms are on our shipping & returns page.
