Frequently Asked Questions

At 38,000 pages, how often will this yellow actually need changing?

Rarely — and that is the point of the Canon GPR-30 family. The yellow, part number 2801B003AA, is rated at up to 38,000 pages, close to the black's 44,000. On an imageRUNNER C5045, C5051 or ADVANCE C5250/C5255 running departmental volumes, a single yellow cartridge can cover the better part of a year. Most fleet managers schedule its replacement off the meter reading at a service visit rather than waiting for output quality to announce it.

Why does yellow fade without anyone noticing?

Yellow is the lightest colour in the mix, so its loss shows indirectly: greens drift blue, warm greys turn cold and highlights lose their warmth, while the page still looks broadly "in colour." By the time a user reports it, the 2801B003AA is usually near empty. A monthly test page with solid colour blocks is the cheap way to catch it early on a production machine.

What does the yellow cost per page?

This cartridge is $122.73 — the same price as the family's magenta single — against a rating of up to 38,000 pages, which works out at roughly 0.32 cents per page for the yellow component at standard coverage. The family's cyan single is priced lower at the same yield; that is a listing difference, not a difference in the cartridges' ratings.

Which part number do we quote so stores supply yellow, not magenta?

2801B003AA. The GPR-30 sequence runs black 2789B003AA, cyan 2793B003AA, magenta 2797B003AA and yellow 2801B003AA. The four boxes are near-identical, so the requisition should carry the full code; "the last one in the sequence" is how experienced stores staff remember the yellow's slot.

Does the yellow get consumed by black-and-white copying?

Effectively no. Text and mono copying draw on the black cartridge; yellow use tracks your colour output — charts, covers, presentations and anything with greens or warm tones. That is why two departments sharing one machine can have completely different yellow consumption, and why per-department meter readings beat guesswork for reorder planning.

What if a new yellow does not fix the colour problem?

Then the fault is likely elsewhere in the machine, and the cartridge itself is still covered: every compatible cartridge we sell carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. Our support team, available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, can help work through the test-page evidence, and the terms are on our shipping & returns page.
