    Frequently Asked Questions

Why do our highlights look dirty and the yellows muddy even though toner still shows as available?

Because yellow fails differently from the other colours. A GPR-36Y in decline rarely goes blank — it goes dull. Highlights pick up a grey cast, warm colours lose their lift, and pages look tired in a way that is hard to name. Print a solid yellow test patch: yellow is hard to judge on white paper, so hold it under a bright light. If the patch is uneven, the cartridge is telling you it is done, whatever the toner gauge claims.

Does yellow even matter on mostly black-and-white documents?

More than most people think. On many colour machines, greys in a "black-and-white" copy are built from all four toners, and colour documents use yellow in places you would never guess — it warms skin tones, builds greens with cyan, and sits inside most oranges and golds. A weak GPR-36Y quietly drags down pages that look like they contain no yellow at all.

What does the yellow share of a page cost?

The GPR-36Y is $71.06 rated at up to 19,000 pages — roughly 0.37 cents per page for the yellow component, the same as its GPR-36C cyan and GPR-36M magenta siblings. On colour work where yellow is mostly highlights and accents, the real-world cost per page usually lands lower than that rating suggests, because few pages ask yellow to cover much area.

Should the yellow be replaced on the same schedule as the cyan and magenta?

Not on a schedule — on its own evidence. In this family all three colours share a 19,000-page rating, but they empty according to your output mix. Replace the GPR-36Y when its test patch fades or the machine calls for it, and leave the other colours to their own timelines. Blanket-changing all three throws away whatever life the others still hold.

How should a spare GPR-36Y be stored in the copy room?

Sealed in its box, flat, in a cool dry spot away from radiators, windows and direct sun. Toner cartridges keep well that way, and yellow is often the colour a site forgets to stock precisely because it fades quietly — one spare on the shelf, dated when it arrived, is cheap insurance against a dull-output week.

What cover do we get — and who do we call if something is off?

The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a GPR-36Y that underperforms goes back rather than into an argument. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you would rather talk the symptom through first — yellow problems are worth describing before you order, because half the time the test patch tells the story. Terms are on our shipping and returns page.

    About This Cartridge

This is a single compatible GPR-36Y yellow toner cartridge from the Canon GPR-36 family, rated at up to 19,000 pages, matching the family's black, cyan and magenta ratings. It serves imageRUNNER production and copy-room machines where yellow's quiet work — highlights, greens, warm tones — holds the colour balance together. It ships from one of our four US warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and every cartridge is covered by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. See the whole GPR-36 family on the Canon toner page.

The machines behind this yellow cartridge (GPR-36Y) are the ImageRunner Advance C2030, ImageRunner Advance C2225, ImageRunner C2020, and ImageRunner Advance C2020. The same family also offers the black cartridge (GPR-36BK), the magenta cartridge (GPR-36M), the cyan cartridge (GPR-36C), and the GPR-36 4-cartridge set.
