Frequently Asked Questions

How far does a 44,000-page black and 38,000-page colors actually take a busy C5255?

Farther than most toner conversations assume. A production machine putting 8,000 pages a month through its color slots is looking at well over four months before a color cartridge is spent, and the 44,000-page black (2789B003AA) runs longer still. Even at double that volume, a set is a twice-a-year event rather than a monthly chore — which changes toner from a recurring errand into a line you plan once and forget.

At $431.81 this is a serious purchase. What drives the price?

Yield class, plainly. The four cartridges average $107.95 each, and each one is a high-capacity production unit: 44,000 pages from the black and 38,000 pages from each of the cyan (2793B003AA), magenta (2797B003AA) and yellow (2801B003AA). You are paying for the longest-rated set in this range so that a flagship imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5250 or C5255 spends its time printing instead of waiting on supplies.

The gap between black and color ratings is smaller here — 44,000 against 38,000. Why does that matter?

Because it makes the whole set age more evenly. In families where the black is rated far beyond the colors, the color slots cycle repeatedly inside one black cycle. Here the four ratings sit close together, so on a color production machine the slots approach the end of their life in the same season — and one planned set change refreshes the machine for another long stretch.

Our C5045 cannot sit idle waiting for a delivery. What is the stocking strategy?

Keep one complete set between the machine and trouble. Fit cartridges from it as slots call, and the day the shelf set is opened, its replacement goes on order — with 38,000-to-44,000-page ratings, the working set gives you months of warning before the shelf needs to be full again. That rhythm means no slot on the machine is ever waiting on a courier.

A set this size may sit on the shelf for months. Any concerns?

Only ordinary ones. Keep the cartridges sealed, flat, cool and dry, away from sunlight and heat, and write the arrival date on the box so rotation stays first-in, first-out. A sealed compatible cartridge is patient stock; the mistake to avoid is opening cartridges early "to check them" — an opened cartridge belongs in a machine, not back on a shelf.

What stands behind the set if a cartridge fails early?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns on every cartridge, individually — one failure is handled on its own and never drags the other three into it. The full wording is on our shipping and returns page, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
