Frequently Asked Questions

Twenty-four thousand pages in a single order — what sort of department prints at that pace?

The sort this cartridge was designed for. The TN850 is the high-yield cartridge for Brother's workgroup platform — shared HL-L6xxx printers and MFC-L5xxx/L6xxx all-in-ones carrying whole teams' output. On a machine like that, an 8,000-page cartridge is a matter of weeks, and buying them one at a time means a standing errand. Three at once turns toner into a quarterly decision: one order, three cartridge cycles covered.

What does the 3 pack knock off the price of three single cartridges?

$42.24. The TN850 sells singly at $140.79, so three separate cartridges cost $422.37; this pack is $380.13, which works out at exactly $126.71 a cartridge — $14.08 less per cartridge than the single price. It is also $190.07 under its own $570.20 list price. The saving is real money at this cartridge's price level, not a token discount.

How do three cartridges map onto the DR820 drum's life?

Almost exactly onto one drum. The DR820 drum these cartridges work through is rated at 30,000 pages, and three TN850s hold 24,000 pages of toner — so a drum fitted alongside this pack will come due partway through the fourth cartridge after it. In practice: order this pack with a healthy drum and you are set; order it when the drum is already ageing and the drum will want replacing before the pack's toner story is quite finished.

Which printers does this pack fit?

The twenty-three models of the TN850 platform: the DCP-L5500DN, DCP-L5600DN and DCP-L5650DN; the HL-L5000D, HL-L5100DN, HL-L5200DW, HL-L5200DWT, HL-L6200DW, HL-L6200DWT, HL-L6250 DN, HL-L6250DW, HL-L6300DW, HL-L6400DW and HL-L6400DWT; and the MFC-L5700DN, MFC-L5700DW, MFC-L5750DW, MFC-L5800DW, MFC-L5850DW, MFC-L5900DW, MFC-L6700DW, MFC-L6750DW and MFC-L6800DW.

How should a department handle stock rotation with a pack this size?

Simply: fit the cartridges in the order they arrived, and keep the unopened ones sealed, flat and out of sunlight in the supply cupboard. At departmental pace the whole pack turns over in a season or two, well within comfortable storage for factory-sealed genuine cartridges. One shelf, one product code, nothing to reconcile between orders.

How do returns and warranty work on this pack?

Every cartridge is genuine Brother stock, so the OEM terms apply throughout: returnable within 30 days of delivery in all cases, with warranty cover from Brother's manufacturer warranty. Full terms sit on our shipping and returns page. Raise anything with support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, inside the return window.
