Frequently Asked Questions

What does this 2 pack knock off the price of two single cartridges?

Exactly $28.79, and here is the working. One TN850 is $140.79 on this site, so two singles come to $281.58. This pack — two genuine TN850 cartridges, 8,000 rated pages each — is $252.79. That prices every cartridge at $126.40 instead of $140.79, and it sits against a $379.19 list price for the pack. Modest per cartridge, meaningful across a year: an office turning over four cartridges annually keeps the better part of sixty dollars by buying them two at a time.

Is 16,000 pages of toner a sensible amount to hold?

For the platform this pack serves, usually yes. These are workgroup machines — an office printing 2,000 pages a month works through this box in about eight months, and the second cartridge spends that time sealed in its carton, which is exactly how genuine toner prefers to wait. Holding the pack only becomes questionable if the printer itself is near replacement; toner this specific deserves a machine with a future. Otherwise, capacity on the shelf is cheaper than urgency at the counter.

Do both cartridges have to go into the same printer?

No — they are two completely independent TN850 cartridges that happen to share a box. Offices running two machines from this platform often split a pack one-and-one; offices with a single printer treat it as a cartridge plus its own understudy. Either way, each cartridge delivers its full 8,000-page rating wherever it is fitted, and the pack pricing applies regardless of how you deploy them.

Which printers does this pack fit?

The same twenty-three models as the single TN850: DCP-L5500DN, DCP-L5600DN and DCP-L5650DN; HL-L5000D, HL-L5100DN, HL-L5200DW, HL-L5200DWT, HL-L6200DW, HL-L6200DWT, HL-L6250 DN, HL-L6250DW, HL-L6300DW, HL-L6400DW and HL-L6400DWT; and MFC-L5700DN, MFC-L5700DW, MFC-L5750DW, MFC-L5800DW, MFC-L5850DW, MFC-L5900DW, MFC-L6700DW, MFC-L6750DW and MFC-L6800DW. Check the code on the cartridge leaving your machine — TN850 out, TN850 in.

How does this pack interact with the drum schedule?

These printers run a separate DR820 drum unit alongside the toner. Across this pack's 16,000 pages you may well see a drum-life message part-way through — that is the drum's own clock expiring, not a comment on either cartridge, and it calls for the drum rather than more toner. Keeping the two schedules separate in your head (and in the stock cupboard) prevents the classic mistake of answering every printer message with a toner order.

What are the return terms on a two-cartridge pack?

The pack is returnable within 30 days of delivery, in all cases, and both cartridges are covered by Brother's manufacturer warranty as genuine stock — the details are set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from whichever of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses is closest, and help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
