Frequently Asked Questions

What does adding a third cartridge do to the price of each one?

It steps it down again. A TN420 bought singly is $68.41; the 2 pack brings it to about $61.75 a cartridge; this 3 pack takes it to about $59.52. Against three singles at $205.23, the pack's $178.57 saves $26.66 in total — and it is $71.43 under its own $250.00 list price. The ladder is the honest story of this range: each extra cartridge in the box trims the unit price a little further.

How far do three cartridges go?

Three TN420 cartridges at 1,200 pages each hold 3,600 pages of toner. On a lightly used machine — a home-office MFC-7460DN, a reception IntelliFax — that is a long stretch of printing covered by a single order. On a busier single printer it is three full cycles without a reorder landing in the middle of any of them.

Who is the three-pack sized for?

The middle of this family's buyers: one machine printing steadily but not heavily, where a 2 pack feels short and a 4 pack feels like a warehouse. It also suits two same-platform machines sharing one stock shelf — three cartridges distribute across a pair of printers without either owner counting units too carefully.

How does this pack sit against the DR420 drum's life?

Comfortably inside it. The DR420 drum these cartridges work through is rated at 12,000 pages — roughly ten TN420 cartridges. This pack's three cartridges use less than a third of a drum, so a drum in good health when the pack arrives will still be in good health when the pack is finished. When the drum's own turn eventually comes, it is a separate purchase on its own cycle.

Which printers does this pack fit?

The nineteen models of the TN420 platform: the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW and HL-2280DW; the IntelliFax 2840 and IntelliFax 2940; and the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN and MFC-7460DN.

What are the return and warranty terms?

The cartridges are genuine Brother products, so the OEM arrangement applies in full: a 30-day return window from delivery, applicable in all cases, and warranty protection under Brother's manufacturer warranty. Our shipping and returns page carries the complete terms. Those are the full conditions for this pack — the longer cover shown elsewhere on the site belongs to compatible products.
