Frequently Asked Questions

Who buys toner for these older machines four cartridges at a time?

Two kinds of owners. The first runs several machines on this platform — a couple of HL-2270DWs, an MFC on the counter and an IntelliFax that still earns its keep — and wants one shared stock purchase instead of a drip of small orders. The second runs a single lightly used printer and simply wants toner settled for a very long time. Both are buying the same thing: the deepest per-cartridge price this family offers, and an end to thinking about toner.

What does the 4 pack do to the per-cartridge price?

It takes it to the bottom of the ladder: about $58.41 a cartridge, against $68.41 singly, about $61.75 in the 2 pack and about $59.52 in the 3 pack. Against four singles at $273.64, this pack's $233.65 saves $39.99 in total, and it is $93.46 under its own $327.11 list price. Each cartridge is the standard genuine TN420 — the size of the box is the only thing that changes the maths.

How long might four cartridges last?

The pack holds 4,800 pages of toner — four cartridges at 1,200 pages each. Duration depends entirely on pace: at a light 200 pages a month, that is two years of printing from one order; at 600 pages a month across a small fleet, it is eight months. Either way, the order you place for this pack is the last toner decision that printer — or those printers — will ask of you for a considerable stretch.

Will the later cartridges still be good when their turn comes?

Yes, with ordinary storage. Keep the unopened cartridges sealed in their Brother boxes, stored flat in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and they will be in full working order when fitted — genuine toner cartridges are not perishable on the timescales a 4 pack is used over. Rotate the stock if you like, fitting the longest-held cartridge first.

Which printers does this pack fit?

The nineteen models built on the TN420: the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW and HL-2280DW; the IntelliFax 2840 and IntelliFax 2940; and the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN and MFC-7460DN.

How are returns and warranty handled on this pack?

All four cartridges are genuine Brother stock, so the OEM terms cover the pack: returns within 30 days of delivery, in all cases, and warranty protection through Brother's manufacturer warranty. The full detail is on our shipping and returns page. Contact support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, inside the return window if anything arrives wrong.
