Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this bundle carry three toner cartridges but only a single drum?

Because that is how a hard-working machine on this platform actually consumes the two parts. The DR420 drum unit is rated at 12,000 pages; each TN450 cartridge at 2,600. Three cartridges total about 7,800 pages of toner — a heavy stretch of printing that still leaves the drum with rated life in hand. So this bundle is built toner-forward: it suits a printer whose drum is being renewed now (or is young) but whose toner burn is high, letting you stock the consumable you will actually reach for, again and again, without reordering every few weeks.

What is the effective cost of each cartridge inside this bundle?

One way to read the $369.99 price: set the DR420 drum at its individual $140.33 price, and the three TN450 cartridges in the box effectively cost about $76.55 each — against $92.91 if bought one at a time. Totalled the other way, the bundle's contents come to $419.06 bought separately (three cartridges plus one drum), so the bundle saves $49.07, and it is $148.00 under its $517.99 list price. For a machine that genuinely gets through toner, that is the cheapest way in this family to keep it fed with genuine cartridges.

How much printing does the box represent, in plain terms?

The toner side adds up to roughly 7,800 rated pages — at 400 pages a month, well over a year and a half of output from one delivery; at 1,000 pages a month, the better part of a year. The drum's 12,000-page rating covers all of it and beyond: after these three cartridges are empty, the same drum will still carry a fourth cartridge, and part of a fifth, before its own warning appears. Nothing here needs buying again soon.

Three cartridges on the shelf — will the last one still print properly when its turn comes?

Yes, provided it stays sealed and sensibly stored. Genuine cartridges are packaged to sit: keep the boxes out of sunlight and away from radiators or damp, and a TN450 fitted a year from now performs as it would have on delivery day. Fit cartridges in the order bought, and give each new one a gentle rock side to side before fitting, as Brother directs, to distribute the toner evenly.

Which printers does this bundle fit?

The TN450 platform's nineteen models: printers HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW and HL-2280DW; the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the all-in-ones MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN and MFC-7460DN; and the fax machines Intellifax 2840 and Intellifax 2940. Every one runs the TN450 cartridge in the DR420 drum, which is precisely what this box contains.

What are my return and warranty rights on this bundle?

Standard OEM terms, because every part in the box is genuine Brother: the bundle may be returned within 30 days in all cases, and warranty cover is Brother's manufacturer warranty rather than a store policy. You will find the full text on our shipping and returns page. If an item arrives damaged, get in touch with support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, before fitting it.
