Frequently Asked Questions

Two toners and two drums in one box — who actually needs matched pairs like this?

Anyone running two printers from this platform. Think of the bundle as two complete refresh kits sharing a carton: each machine gets one TN450 high-yield toner cartridge (2,600 rated pages) and one DR420 drum unit (12,000 rated pages). Small businesses often standardised on these Brother models years ago — one in the office, one at the counter or in a second location — and when consumables come due, they tend to come due together. This bundle services both machines in a single order instead of two.

What does each printer's refresh work out to, per machine?

The bundle is $406.29 for two of everything, so the arithmetic per machine is $203.15 for a new genuine toner cartridge and a new genuine drum together. Set that against the separate route: two TN450 cartridges at $92.91 and two DR420 drums at $140.33 come to $466.48, meaning the bundle saves $60.19 overall — the deepest saving in this bundle family — and it is $162.52 below its $568.81 list price.

Should the pairs be kept together, or can the parts be mixed between machines?

They are identical genuine parts, so there is no technical pairing to preserve — a TN450 from this box fits any of the nineteen platform models, and so does a DR420. In practice, though, there is an argument for fitting a fresh drum and a fresh cartridge to the same machine at the same visit: it resets that printer's whole print path at once, so any later quality question has a clean baseline. If one machine is urgent and the other can wait, fit one pair now and shelve the other; sealed parts keep well.

Are the two parts rated for the same life?

No, and the difference is deliberate. The TN450 cartridge carries the toner and is rated at 2,600 pages; the DR420 drum carries no toner at all — it is the imaging unit the cartridge sits in, rated at 12,000 pages. In this bundle each machine starts with both clocks at zero. Expect to replace the cartridge roughly four to five times across the drum's life; those future cartridges are bought singly, because the drums from this bundle will still be mid-life.

Which printers can this bundle service?

Any two — or one, twice over — of the platform's nineteen models: the printers HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW, HL-2280DW; the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN, MFC-7460DN; and the Intellifax 2840 and Intellifax 2940. Because every model on the platform uses this same TN450 and DR420 pairing, a mixed pair of machines is no problem at all.

What cover applies if part of the bundle is faulty?

The same OEM cover as the parts carry individually: returns are accepted within 30 days in all cases, and Brother's manufacturer warranty stands behind both the toner cartridges and the drum units. The details are published on our shipping and returns page. Fit each pair promptly once fitted machines are scheduled, and reach support on weekdays between 9 AM and 5 PM CST if anything is not right.
