Frequently Asked Questions

How far does this box take one printer before I need to order anything again?

Quite a way. The bundle holds two TN450 high-yield toner cartridges, each rated at 2,600 pages, so the toner side covers about 5,200 pages of printing. The single DR420 drum unit in the box is rated at 12,000 pages — comfortably more than both cartridges will ask of it, with life to spare for the next cartridge or two after that. For a small office running one of these machines as its daily printer, this is a set-it-and-forget-it restock: fit the drum and first cartridge now, shelve the second cartridge, and the next order is months away.

Why two toners but only one drum?

The ratio follows the parts' real lifespans. A DR420 drum is rated at 12,000 pages; a TN450 cartridge at 2,600. One drum therefore carries roughly four to five cartridges across its life, so any bundle with equal numbers of both would leave you hoarding drums you cannot use. Two toners to one drum is the proportion a single machine actually consumes in a drum's early and middle life — the drum in this box will still be serving when both cartridges are empty.

What is the saving against assembling the same parts separately?

Bought one by one at current prices — two TN450 cartridges at $92.91 and a DR420 drum at $140.33 — the same contents total $326.15. This bundle is $307.21, which keeps $18.94 in your pocket, and it is $122.88 under its $430.09 list price. It also collapses three separate orders into one shipment, which for a small office is worth something on its own: no second delivery to wait for when the first cartridge runs dry mid-job.

Is the second cartridge going to deteriorate sitting on a shelf?

No — a sealed genuine cartridge keeps its toner stable for a long period when stored sensibly: in its box, out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources, lying flat. Fit the first TN450 when the bundle arrives and keep the second sealed until the printer asks for it. The drum, once fitted, starts its service life; the unopened cartridge effectively waits without ageing in any way that affects print quality.

Which printers does this two-toner bundle serve?

The nineteen models of the TN450 platform. That means the HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW and HL-2280DW printers; the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN and MFC-7460DN all-in-ones; and the Intellifax 2840 and Intellifax 2940 fax machines. All of them consume the same TN450 cartridge and DR420 drum pairing this bundle contains.

How do returns and warranty work on a bundle like this?

Exactly as they do on the individual genuine parts, because that is what these are: a 30-day return window applying in all cases, and Brother's manufacturer warranty covering both the cartridges and the drum. The policy wording is set out on our shipping and returns page. Questions are handled by our support team, Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
