Frequently Asked Questions

I have just picked up a used printer from this range and its prints look tired all over — will one box sort it out?

It is the right place to start. This bundle pairs the two genuine parts that decide print quality on the platform: one TN450 high-yield toner cartridge, rated at 2,600 pages, and one DR420 drum unit, rated at 12,000 pages. A second-hand machine's history is unknown — the cartridge may be a tired refill and the drum near its limit — and renewing both together removes every consumable variable at once. If the prints are still poor after that, the fault is in the machine itself, and you will know the consumables are innocent.

The toner is rated 2,600 pages and the drum 12,000 — why sell parts with such different lives together?

Because they do different jobs. The TN450 carries the toner powder and empties as you print; the DR420 carries no toner — it is the imaging drum the cartridge clips into, and it wears out over roughly four to five cartridges. The figures are stated separately and never added into one total, because they measure different things. This bundle simply acknowledges the moments when both clocks run out together: a new machine being set up, a used one being revived, or a drum warning arriving the same week the toner fades.

What does the bundle cost against buying the two parts on their own?

Separately today, the TN450 sells at $92.91 and the DR420 at $140.33 — $233.24 for the pair. This bundle is $223.77, so it saves $9.47 against the separate route, and it sits $89.51 below its own $313.28 list price. The saving is modest and we will not dress it up as more than it is; the bundle's real convenience is that both halves of the machine's print system arrive in a single delivery, ready for one fitting session.

If only one of the two parts is actually due, should I still buy the bundle?

Honestly, no. If the drum has thousands of pages left and only the toner is fading, buy the TN450 alone and let the drum live out its life; likewise a drum warning with a fresh cartridge fitted calls for the DR420 on its own. The bundle earns its price when both are genuinely due, or when a machine's history is unknown and you want a known-good baseline. Splitting the purchase when only one part is needed is the cheaper and more sensible route.

Which printers does this bundle fit?

The nineteen models of the TN450 platform: the DCP-7060D and DCP-7065DN; the HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2242D, HL-2250DN, HL-2270DW, HL-2275DW and HL-2280DW; the Intellifax 2840 and Intellifax 2940; and the MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7365DN and MFC-7460DN. Every one of those machines runs on exactly this pairing — a TN450 cartridge in a DR420 drum — so the bundle is a complete consumable reset for any of them.

What are the return and warranty terms on the bundle?

Both components are genuine Brother parts, so the terms are the OEM ones: the bundle can be returned within 30 days in all cases, and warranty cover comes from Brother's manufacturer warranty. Full details are on our shipping and returns page. When you fit the drum, remember to reset its counter in the printer's menu; and if anything arrives damaged, support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
