We run work orders in black and safety labels in color. Which cartridge will we change most often?
On a normal week, black. The black cartridge, 106R02244, is rated at 3,000 pages, and work orders, packing lists and invoices are steady black work. The colors — cyan 106R02241, magenta 106R02242 and yellow 106R02243 — are rated at 2,000 pages each and get consumed in shorter, denser bursts when a run of color labels or signage goes through. A label-heavy week can pull the colors down faster than black for a while, but across a quarter the black cartridge sets the pace.
Before we order, how do we match this set to the machine in our plant office?
Pull up the supplies status screen on the WorkCentre 6605 and read off the four numbers: 106R02244 for black, 106R02241 for cyan, 106R02242 for magenta and 106R02243 for yellow. If the panel shows those four, this set is the one your machine takes. Checking on screen takes a minute and beats reading the label off a cartridge that is still installed.
Is the Premium listing a different grade of toner?
No. The cartridges in this set are the same ones sold under the standard listing, at the same $117.81 price, with the same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns standing behind them. Premium in the listing name is not a different fill, a different rating or different terms — the two listings are simply two doors to the same product, and we say that plainly so nobody pays for an upgrade that is not there.
The plant office gets warm in summer. How should a spare set be stored?
Keep it sealed, lying flat, in the coolest dry spot you have — a cabinet away from radiators, steam lines and direct sun is ideal. Toner is a dry powder and stays stable a long time while the wrapping is intact, so a spare bought in spring will be perfectly usable in the fall. Open a cartridge only when the machine actually asks for it.
