Frequently Asked Questions

How long should this set last on a shared MC873DN?

That turns on your monthly volume. Each cartridge is rated at up to 10,000 pages, and on a networked MC873DN serving a whole team, the black cartridge's rating is the pacing number for document work: a few hundred pages a month stretches a set well beyond a year, while several thousand pages a month means reordering within a few months. A spare set in the cupboard is cheap insurance for a shared machine.

What does the set cost, broken down?

The complete four-color set is $139.21 — about $34.80 per cartridge on average. One order covers the black, cyan, magenta and yellow positions together, which suits an office manager restocking a shared printer in a single purchase rather than chasing individual colors.

Which part numbers should I match before ordering?

Match the family as a group: 44844509, 44844510, 44844511 and 44844512. The cartridges you pull from your MC873DN will carry numbers from that family, and a match there confirms the set far more reliably than the model badge alone.

Does the set have to be installed all at once across the office printer?

No. The four cartridges are separate, sealed units. Replace the color the MC873DN reports as low, and store the remaining cartridges until their turn. Nothing is wasted by staggering the swaps, and the machine never needs a full-set change just because one color ran out.

Is 10,000 pages per cartridge realistic for mixed office printing?

It is a rating, not a promise: up to 10,000 pages per cartridge at standard light coverage. Text documents come closest to it. Color-heavy work — charts, covers, marketing pieces printed on the MC873DN — uses the color cartridges faster, so expect those three to finish ahead of black in a color-active office.

What support and returns cover this purchase?

These compatible cartridges are backed by a one-year warranty and one-year free returns; the details are on our shipping & returns page. We ship from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, sending from the one closest to you, and support staffs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central.
