Frequently Asked Questions

What cartridge does the LaserJet M1005 use?

The Q2612A — the 12A cartridge shared across this compact LaserJet generation. The M1005's consumable is that single black unit, and the code on the cartridge inside your machine now will read exactly Q2612A.

What is it rated at?

2,000 pages per cartridge at normal document coverage. For a space-saving M1005 on a crowded desk, that is a long interval between changes — the cartridge generally outlasts several reams of the paperwork it prints.

What do I receive for $28.15?

One sealed cartridge, protected in transit packaging. It carries toner and drum together, so fitting it renews the M1005's whole consumable side in a single hand swap.

How is the change done on a compact machine?

The same way as its bigger relatives: cover open, old unit lifted out, new cartridge rocked gently side to side with its sealing strip pulled, seated home, and a test page printed. Small printer, same short routine.

Does an infrequently used M1005 waste toner standing idle?

No — toner is dry powder and keeps indefinitely in a sealed or fitted cartridge. A desk printer that works in bursts loses nothing between bursts, which is precisely why this generation suits occasional printing so well.

When the output fades, is it always the cartridge?

On a machine with a single combined cartridge, fading is the cartridge's own announcement in almost every case. The rocking remedy first; when the fade returns, the fresh unit is the answer.

About This Cartridge for the LaserJet M1005

The M1005 belongs to the same compact generation of LaserJets that begins with the LaserJet 1010, and it shares that generation's one-cartridge discipline: the Q2612A, rated at 2,000 pages. This cartridge at $28.15 is the M1005's complete refill — one part number to remember for a printer bought to take up little room and less attention.

Start with the people in this closing: our support team answers Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.
