With the Color LaserJet 4550 turned off, open the trays and rear access door, and pull jammed paper straight out in the direction of the paper path — never yank sideways. Check for torn scraps, then reload with paper that isn't curled or overfilled.
Will using a compatible cartridge void the warranty on my Color LaserJet 4550?
No — using a compatible cartridge doesn't void the Color LaserJet 4550's hardware warranty on its own. If a cartridge ever caused damage, that would be on the cartridge, but normal compatible HP 640A cartridges are designed to the same fit as OEM.
