XP-424 Ink — The Same 220XL Shelf

Epson lists the XP-424 with the complete 220 code set — standard T220120 / T220220 / T220320 / T220420 and high-capacity T220XL120 / T220XL220 / T220XL320 / T220XL420 — with DURABrite Ultra pigment ink in every position. Rated yields (ISO/IEC 24711): standard black up to 175 pages and each color up to 165; XL black up to 500 pages and each color up to 450. We stock the XL tier, in singles, a 4-pack and a 9-cartridge bulk set.

Epson's cartridge documentation groups the XP-424 with the rest of the 220 family — the same eight codes, the same yields. If you run an XP-420 and an XP-424 in the same household, one shelf of 220XL cartridges genuinely covers both. The boundary to respect is the family line, not the model line: the XP-424 is a 220 printer, while its showroom neighbours in the XP-330 / XP-430 line are 288 printers, and 288 cartridges are not interchangeable with these.

Which 220XL should you buy?

One color ran out: replace just that color — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles are $10.49 each.
Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($35.94) replaces all four positions in one box.
Print every week: the Set of 9 ($67.07) stocks three blacks and two of each color — the pattern home offices actually consume.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Sharing the XP-420's shelf, the XP-424 likewise spends its four DURABrite Ultra positions independently — watch the levels, and the first color to flag low is the only purchase you need to make. Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip, so readings stay normal; a one-time on-screen confirmation is the printer checking a non-Epson cartridge, not an error. The pigment ink dries on contact, resists highlighter smudging, and holds up on handled documents. Keep the likely next color sealed in its bag until install day, away from air and direct light.
