Frequently Asked Questions

What does the part number 331-9805 actually identify?

It identifies one specific black toner cartridge in Dell's mono laser range — a single cartridge, rated at up to 8,500 pages. Buyers who order by part number rather than by printer model use 331-9805 because it is unambiguous: the same code appears on the cartridge, in Dell's supply lists and in fleet contracts, so the code you order is the code that arrives, with no model-name guesswork in between.

How much printing does one 331-9805 cover?

Up to 8,500 pages at standard 5% page coverage. In a department printing around 2,000 pages a month, that is roughly four months between changes; at half that volume it stretches past eight months. Dense pages — full-page forms, heavy graphics — use toner faster, so treat 8,500 as the rating to plan against rather than a promise for every workload.

What does a page cost with this cartridge?

At $91.20 for a cartridge rated at up to 8,500 pages, the toner cost works out to roughly 1.07 cents per page. For a purchasing team comparing supply lines, that is the figure to hold against the Dell original and against lower-rated cartridges, whose cheaper sticker price often hides a higher per-page cost.

My printer is a B3460dn — how do I confirm the 331-9805 is its cartridge?

Check the code, not the shape of the box. The 331-9805 serves Dell's B2360/B3460/B3465 mono laser family, including the B3460dn, and the part number is printed on the cartridge label. If the cartridge coming out of your machine carries 331-9805, this is the same cartridge going back in.

Is this a genuine Dell cartridge?

No — this is a compatible cartridge, built to the 331-9805 specification by a third-party manufacturer rather than by Dell. That is where the saving against the Dell-branded original comes from. What does not change is the fit, the 8,500-page rating, or the cover described below.

What happens if the cartridge underperforms?

Every cartridge we sell carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — if a 331-9805 fades early or fails, it comes back to us. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the full terms are on our shipping & returns page.
