Frequently Asked Questions

Our M227's copies have gone grey and flat, and prints are fading too. Is one part behind both?

Yes — the drum. The M227 is multifunction, but copies and prints share one print engine, and both are imaged by the single CF232A drum. Scanning only reads the original; the copy that emerges is printed, so a worn 32A greys copies exactly as it fades prints.

Which drum does the M227 take?

The HP 32A, part number CF232A — the same imaging drum used across the LaserJet Pro M203 and M227 platform, including the LaserJet M203dw. There is no separate multifunction drum: if your machine runs CF230A or CF230X toner, this is the drum that sits with them.

How is the drum different from the toner cartridge I already replace?

The toner is a supply of powder rated in the low thousands of pages. The drum is the imaging surface that receives the page from the laser and transfers toner onto paper, rated for up to 23,000 pages. Two consumables, two life gauges, two very different replacement rhythms.

How do I check the drum's life on an MFP like this?

Print a supplies status or configuration report from the M227's control panel menus. The drum's remaining life appears as its own line, separate from toner. That report, plus copies and prints fading together, is all the confirmation you need before fitting this replacement.

Does changing the drum affect the scanner or other settings?

No. The swap stays in the print engine bay: toner out, old drum out, new CF232A in, toner back. Scan, copy and network settings are undisturbed, and the machine restarts its drum life count automatically once the fresh unit is seated.

What cover comes with this drum?

A 1-year warranty together with 1-year free returns. Orders are dispatched from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the shipping and returns page carries the full terms.

About This CF232A Drum for the LaserJet Pro M227

At $32.32, this is the HP 32A (CF232A) imaging drum for the LaserJet Pro M227, rated for up to 23,000 pages. Because the M227 prints its copies as well as its documents through this one drum, a fresh unit restores both at once — faded copies on the glass and washed-out letters trace back to this single renewal.
