How many pages does each cartridge print?

Each CF230A is rated at about 1,600 pages at standard five-percent coverage — the light text coverage of letters, invoices and reports. Pages with dense tables, bold headers or graphics use more toner per sheet, so a cartridge printing heavy documents will finish sooner than the rating suggests.

Should I open both cartridges when the box arrives?

No. Install one and keep the second sealed in its carton on the shelf.
