Frequently Asked Questions

I have only ever changed the toner in my M203. What is this drum?

Your M203 has two separate consumables. The toner holds the powder and runs out in the low thousands of pages; the CF232A — the HP 32A imaging drum — is the cylinder that forms each page's image, wearing slowly over up to 23,000 pages. Most owners meet it years into the printer's life.

What symptoms on the M203 point at the drum rather than the toner?

Pages evenly pale, lines or spots repeating down the sheet, and a grey haze behind text are drum signatures. They persist after a toner change because new powder feeds the same worn imaging surface. A supplies status page settles it: the drum reports its own remaining life.

Does this drum fit the whole M203 range?

The 32A is the one drum specification for the LaserJet Pro M203 and M227 platform, so this CF232A serves your M203 and its relatives — the LaserJet M203dw included. If the bay takes a CF230A or CF230X toner, this is the drum that belongs beside it.

How often will I actually do this job?

Rarely. One drum is rated for up to 23,000 pages, which for a single-desk M203 printing letters and invoices can mean years between changes — several toner cartridges come and go in that span. Treat it as an occasional renewal that brings an ageing printer back to day-one sharpness.

Can I fit it myself, or does the printer need a technician?

Yourself, in about two minutes. Lift out the toner cartridge, slide the old drum from the same bay, and seat the new CF232A in its place. No tools, no settings — the printer recognises the fresh drum and starts counting its life from full.

What cover does this drum come with?

It carries a 1-year warranty together with 1-year free returns. Orders dispatch from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the shipping and returns page sets out the complete terms.
